Independent Sentinel

No matter what the news pundits would have you believe, it is always, it seems, the independents who decide elections. We are the great un-party. Independents (small "i") are not ideological. Sentinels are watchers. Figure us out.

Refocusing the Impeachment Movement on Administration Officials Below the President and Vice-President

Dean has a point, and one that should be given very serious consideration. The political reality is that Bush and Cheney have about as much chance of being impeached and I do of winning the lottery. That does, however, not let us off the hook.

We, The people, must demand accountability. It is our job to do so, as citizens of this nations.

Nevertheless, while we demand accountability, all the way to the oval, what would be the problem with going after smaller fishes. As Dean so vey rigthtly points out, Cheney and Bush had to have a whole lot of help with the kind of crimes they have committed. Crimes this huge and ugly are almost always conspiracies, involving a good size number of persons (of interest) Hehehehehe.

(Sorry, could not avoid that razoo into giggle-land. Just so happens, John Ashcroft has a new book out, so he has been on my mind lately. Terrible thing on which to waste a mind. that Mr. Ashcroft.)

Wonder if he could even be a person of interest? That would be a story for the Ironicles.

Nice imagry, but back to the subject at hand. In my humble opinion, Mr. Dean may be dead on. What's more, investigations are starting, no matter what we might want to call them.

If evidence is found in the course of those investigations that one small fish or the other has probably committed a crime, notify the Judiciary Committee chairman, and let them have at it.

Lets see how many Republicans are ready to blow their own party out of the water to save, say....David Addingtom?

There is a huge difference between this horrible Bushmess and the last one, Iran/Contra.

Thousands of Americans did not loose their lives about Iran/Contra. There was no way in hell to present the case that wasn't mind-numbingly boring. Most people didn't know Boland had an amendment or even who Boland was. Reagan was an easy going kind of tough guy. who really offended no one very much, except for the very extreme Left, who all thought of Reagan as just a little demented. (As it turns out, they were right.)

The vast majority of Americans were, as usual, focussd, if on any thing, the evil-empire. No one knew much about whatever was going on down in South and Central America. Occassionally, something about murdered nuns would stun our conscious, but the we would all go back to our lives.

Iraq is different. We have troops deployed in harms way for nothing but lies, lies, lies and more lies.

We have all kinds of fish to fry, there is no harm in starting with the small ones.

Refocusing the Impeachment Movement on Administration Officials Below the President and Vice-President:

Why Not Have A Realistic Debate, with Charges that Could Actually Result in Convictions?

by John W. Dean

There is a well-organized and growing movement to impeach President Bush and/or Vice President Cheney. On my bookshelf sit half a dozen books making the case for Bush's impeachment. I myself have no doubt that Bush has, in fact, committed impeachable offenses, and that for each Bush 'high crime and misdemeanor,' Cheney's culpability is ten or twenty times greater.
